“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere”

Vincent Van Gogh

Drawing has always been part of Kim’s creative life. From quite a young age, she would put pencil to paper to create pictures. And now it is the underpinning of most of her work as a designer.
Her personal illustration work is rooted in her love of the natural world. Her playful approach reflects in her imaginative combinations of flora and fauna with mechanical styles and influences. Detailed, hybrid beings which she executes mostly, in inks.
Combined with a nod to her career in costume, her illustrated characters often wear clothing elements which create a familiar yet fantastical aesthetic.

“Incorporating intricate, technical looking drawings with looser ink work, I like to draw to the best of my ability but I also enjoy the fluidity of  ink that has been applied with droppers or left to run. I  experiment by mixing inks, combining several different types to create the desired effects. As an autistic artist, I can hyper focus on the details and spend time in the imaginary world of my characters, which are often inspired by my real life wildlife encounters and my experiences of Pareidolia.”
