“Sunflower” was added to the collection because I was having a springtime exhibition and I thought what better way than to brighten it up than a big sunflower.
I was thinking about how we give bunches of flowers. Wrapped in paper. What if the grew out of paper in the first place?
And the hat? I asked people to suggest colours on Facebook. Purple won and blue was second. But then I remembered photographing my next door neighbours’ sunflowers against a sunny, blue sky. It had to be blue to represent this. I did the snail purple instead.
