LOPHI is named after the scientific name for Angler Fish “Lophiiformes” and was originally commissioned for Tall Ships Hartlepool 2023. Clad with distressed wood and decorated with barnacles, they’re known for burping up bubbles, much to the delight of the crowds.
Recycled boat sails donated by Steve Douthwaite Sails and Canvas were used for the dorsal fin and tail along with sail fabric also used as part of the “skin” and seaweed.
Washed ashore during Tall Ships, LOPHI is as happy in trees as they are in seas. They’re partly made of wood after all.
One Facebook Live from Tall Ships has a reach of over 51,000.
LOPHI needs 2 puppeteers and has the following features:

- Light up Eyes
