I love drawing birds and this was no exception. I played with the idea of adding colour to the bow tie but ended up leaving it white. I liked the idea that there was just this ensemble of textures representing the white feathers of the bald eagle’s head.
Named after the latin name for Bald Eagle “Haliaeetus leucocephalus” I took the first part of the name and combined it with “regal” for this crown wearing queen. A play on regalia.
The GreenPlume Collection was exhibited at Hartlepool Art Gallery 2025.
